THE SHORT HISTORY OF ÇANAKKALE İBRAHİM BODUR ANATOLIAN HIGH SCHOOL

In Barbaros ward, which is an overpopulated ward in Çanakkale, 7221 m² area was nationalized as a school area owing to the need of a second high school in the city centre.

In the 12 September 1990, in the name of our governor, Muzaffer ECEMİŞ, Governor of Çanakkale and İbrahim BODUR, the founder of Kale Group of Companies and the corporate executive, also an education philanthropist signed a protocol. It is an example of solidarity between State and Citizen.

The construction of the school building, according to the protocol which was awarded on 9 September 1990, was begun on 15 October 1990. Yıldırım AKBULUT, the Prime Minister of the time and Avni AKYOL, the Minister of Education of the time participated in the ceremony to lay the foundations. İbrahim BODUR assisted equipments a total of 500.000.000 TL to the construction of the school, which was planned to cost 1.876.000.000 TL.

The school was completed on 18 May 1992 and it was cost 2.500.000.000 TL.

The school got its opening consent on 21 July 1992 and on 14 September 1992 it began its first school year.

In 1992 – 1993 School Year, there were 304 students, 25 teachers, a civil servant who does office works and 5 employees in the school. In 2006 – 2007 School Year, there are 745 students, 59 teachers, 3 employees in the school. And during those years the school became one of the most distinguished schools in Çanakkale.

We will always be grateful to İbrahim BODUR for his materialistic and spritual helps to construct our school. He gave one of the most beautiful examples to the solidarity between State and Citizen in education mobilization.
